Symposium on Bio-based Production of Organic Acids
DECHEMA-House, Theodor-Heuss-Allee 25, 60486 Frankfurt/Main, Germany
May 10th to May 11th, 2012
On behalf of the ERA-IB consortium BioProChemBB, CLIB2021, Dechema and GFT. We would like to invite you to attend the “Symposium on Bio-based Production of Organic Acids (bbpoa2012)”, which will be held in the DECHEMA-House in Frankfurt, Germany, on 10th and 11th May 2012.
The shortage of resources and steadily rising in oil prices result in the necessity to develop safe and efficient bioprocesses for the production of chemicals from renewable biomass. Fermentation processes have been traditionally used to produce a number of organic acids such as citric acid, lactic acid and gluconic acid. Current developments towards a bio-based economy trigger the fermentative production of acids such as succinic acid, itaconic acid, malic acid, pyruvic acid, acetic acid, fumaric acid, butyric acid, and 3-hydroxypropionic acid.
This symposium provides the opportunity for discussion on the most recent developments in the field of bio-based organic acid production (science & technology). The symposium covers the topics: i) Metabolic Engineering, ii) Physiology and Acid Stress and iii) Downstream processing. It is opened to worldwide scientists, whether from academia or industry, and it will give younger researchers the opportunity to benefit from interactions with leaders in their field. Presentations on all aspects of Bio-Based Production of Organic Acids in poster format from academic institutions and industries are kindly requested (see Call for Abstracts).
